Cunard has historicallyin the past held out from the profitable trend of offering weddings at sea, something which isnât allowed under British law. Weddings at sea is a well-liked and growing trend. However, Cunard Line had resisted the idea as it prohibited under the British law. But the Cunard Cruises has given in to the temptation and will permit its passengers to marry on board for the first time in its 171-year history. All of its cruise liners, Queen Elizabeth cruise, Queen Mary cruise and Queen Victoria have been registered in Bermuda and they won't sail under the Union Jack any more.
I have recently read that Cunard Line of the oldest passenger shipping companies will start offering weddings at sea.
Cunard will be re flagging their ships from Southampton to Bermuda to be able to offer weddings. It will be the first time in Cunard's 171 year history. Cunard haven't been able to offer weddings at sea before as under the British Law weddings at sea are not allowed. From Spring 2012 Cunard will offer a choice of wedding packages. These will start after the world voyages have completed. The marriage programme will go on sale next month and details will be obtainable soon. Plenty of other cruise lines already offer weddings at sea and it is gaining popularity. It is definitely a nice suggestion for Cunard to branch out in to offering these and I am positive they will attract plenty of interest. As the packages will be obtainable across the ships there will certainly be plenty of itineraries to pick from. Would you think about getting married onboard a Cunard ship?
The cruise wedding program called Weddings at Sea will start from Spring next year. Cunard Line is preparing a brochure for the program and will release it in November and subsequently start bookings for next year. The idea had grown very popular and all the other cruise liners were offering various packages and cornering all the business. Peter Shanks from Cunard Line revealed that they often received enquiries by couples intending to marry on their ships. It is a growing and profitable segment of the cruise business and it makes commercial sense to get in to it before it is late.
The couples getting married on board a ship often request the captain of the ship to preside over the ceremony. But all captains are not legally allowed to preside over a wedding. However, some cruise companies are offering this service also. Weddings have become the most popular milestone to be celebrated on board a ship. Till the space wedding takes over the cruise liners are all set to money in on the popular and growing trend.
